Tell us a little about Quantifi.
What makes it unique?

Quantifi is a financial software company providing state of the art models, pricing tools and risk analysis for the world’s credit markets. I founded the firm in 2002 with the vision of setting a global standard for advanced credit derivative analytics and risk management. I had previously been at Citigroup and Salomon Smith Barney where I ran the credit derivative research group and I saw the need for comprehensive models and risk analysis software for structured credit. We’ve grown steadily since the company was first founded – this year we were named one of the top 50 fastest growing software companies in the United States. Our client base includes leading banks, hedge funds, asset managers and insurance companies in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Quantifi’s main strength and differentiator is the experience of our people. Our staff members have come out of the world’s largest banks and have a wealth of experience in building software models for the structured credit markets. We also focus on being very responsive to our clients and working closely with them to make sure that we deliver tools and models according to their needs. We are dedicated to adapting and responding very quickly to the rapidly changing market that our clients participate in.

As a CEO how valuable is PR & Marketing to you?
As a small company participating in a global market, it’s extremely important for us to get the word out to potential customers about what we do. It’s not really practical for us to have a large sales force cold calling prospective clients. PR is crucial for us in being able to reach as many prospective clients as possible and as efficiently as possible. By using targeted PR, we’re also able to reach the right decision makers with the right message.

What was the motivation for working with an outside agency?
The motivation for us is the belief that companies can’t be good at everything. For us, we can better focus on what we do as a company – credit derivative pricing and risk analytics – and Cognito can focus on what they do best as a company – PR and marketing for financial services. The ability for us to very efficiently tap into Cognito’s experienced PR and communications resources is a huge advantage for us.

Why did you decide to work with Cognito?
We were directed to Cognito from another one of their clients. It was a very positive reference from a company we admired and hence we began the discussion with Cognito. We liked all the people we met and found them all to be very smart professionals. They understood the space we work in which is a huge advantage because the Cognito team immediately understood what we do. Their knowledge of the financial services and financial technology space enables them to position our message to business and trade press – and with positive results.

How has Cognito helped raise Quantifi’s profile?
Cognito has worked closely with us to generate press interviews and media activity around what we are currently developing and also to promote our image as a thought leader in the credit derivatives space. We’ve had a lot of success with Cognito in terms of tangible results and visibility in the publications that we most care about. With Cognito’s help, we’ve developed a strong reputation as a company with a roster of industry experts that journalists can come to for comment on the market and the latest trends. Cognito has also helped us initiate a broad range of media activities, including holding press roundtables, a campaign for my recently published book “Credit Derivatives Strategies” and interviews with high-profile press such as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and the BBC.
