Data Visualization 2

NewsI may be behind the curve here but looking at this I think the rise in innovative data visualization is more than just another scientific or internet curiosity. Despite the increasing amount and speed of information, we do not seem, collectively, to have become any smarter. See for example the current recession and our reaction to it. If anything, the sheer volume of information has made it harder to 'see the woods for the trees' and nearly impossible to communicate ideas plainly. Data visualization has on its side the ability to cut through the noise, to sum up complex things simply; in its purest form: to communicate. At a time of crisis this is a concept whose time has well and truly arrived.

www.smashingmagazine.com has a great list of modern approaches to data visulization
