11 Jan, 2011, Los Angeles, New York, London, Singapore - Cognito, the international PR and marketing firm for the financial sector, today announced an enhancement to its Cognito Analytics platform that allows users to view rankings of financial trade media* according to their number of followers on Twitter.
Cognito Analytics is a technology platform that allows users to track and monitor their media profile, competitors and PR activity. The system was recently enhanced to include Twitter.
The Cognito Analytics Twitter Ranking updates weekly and shows the top 50 financial trade media outlets based on number of followers. The ranking shows position changes from the previous week and the rise or fall in number of followers for each publication.
This week’s top position is held by Source Media’s Bank Technology News (@banktechnews) with over 4,000 followers. Benzinga (@benzinga) and Futures Magazine (@futuresmagazine) hold 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Publications that use Twitter can attract hundreds of followers each month. The Twitter Rankings are designed to show people in the industry which media are actively pursuing Twitter as a route to market and which have substantial followings.
Tom Coombes, CEO Cognito, comments, “The rankings show that many media outlets have embraced Twitter as a powerful and relevant channel. Much of the industry content, news and opinion is now on Twitter. Twitter is being used by many thousands of people within the financial services sector worldwide and we fully expect this to keep growing as more people understand the importance and benefits of this channel. Cognito will be introducing new tools for social media in our sector in 2011. This latest functionality is the first of a number of new features that will be included in the Cognito Analytics platform.”
