Cognito Cleans up Gotham
Cognito has called New York City home for nearly 10 years. In that time, we’ve moved from Midtown to Financial District and then some. It has always been important to us as a public relations and marketing firm for financial services to give back to this city, however we can.
Recently, several Cognito members volunteered at the Spring New York Cares Day – an effort to clean up parks, community gardens, and public spaces throughout the city. The Cognito team of 12 joined more than 4,000 participants to pitch in for the annual event. We were assigned to Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, where we worked for hours to add a new coat of paint to the wrought iron fence surrounding the property.
It has always been part of the corporate culture at Cognito to donate our time whenever we can. We have been participating in the bi-annual New York Cares Days for many years, having painted murals and organized textbooks at public schools in the past. We also support the American Cancer Society through helping the organization plan its annual Financial Services Cares Gala. With Cognito’s support, the 2012 event was attended by leaders in the financial services industry in an effort to promote cancer research and raised more than $1.6 million!
Giving back to the community that we live and work in solidifies our own inter-employee relationships and provides an opportunity to bond we might not have otherwise had.
