On June 24, 2014, the American Cancer Society (ACS) hosted its 9th Annual Financial Services Cares Gala in New York City. For the fourth consecutive year, Cognito donated its time and services as a pro-bono agency to the event, which brings together leaders in the financial services industry who invest their time in the fight against cancer. The Cognito ACS team (pictured above) led publicity and social buzz efforts for the event and provided onsite support at this year’s gala.

Each year, the ACS honors a prominent philanthropic leader with the Eugene D. O’Kelly Award, named after KPMG’s former Chairman and CEO Eugene O’Kelly. This year, Dick Vitale, legendary ESPN sports analyst and commentator, was honored with the award for his work with The V Foundation, which is dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer.

The event raised a staggering two million dollars this year and featured live performances by the financial services industry’s finest talent, including executives from BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Citi. During the night, Cognito enjoyed a live auction directed by Pat Tully and remarks by John Thiel, Chairman of the gala and Head of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. All auction and donation proceeds directly benefited the ACS and the Hope and Heroes Children's Cancer Fund.

We are honored to work with the ACS for this event and look forward to continuing our partnership. Be sure to follow on Twitter and LinkedIn to stay up-to-date with next year’s gala.
