Rhys Merrett

Rhys is a senior communications leader with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of financial services and emerging technology. Specialising in fintech and decentralised finance, he has built and led B2B PR divisions, managed partner networks, and delivered strategic communications campaigns across the UK, US and EMEA, advising C-suite executives through regulatory change, growth initiatives, crisis issues, funding rounds and market expansions.

Prior to joining Cognito, Rhys headed the Technology Division at The PHA Group, where he led integrated communications programmes for fintech and B2B tech clients, including Fnality and Datasite. Originally from Australia, he began his career in the Australian Public Service as a Parliamentary Researcher in the Committee Office and held a PhD candidature at ANU, where he lectured, taught and published works on geopolitics.
